1. Quotations, Pricing & Scope of Work
Validity: Quotations are valid for 3 months. If works do not commence within this period, we reserve the right to increase the quoted price to reflect any rising costs in labour or materials.
Scope: Only items explicitly specified within our written quotation are included. Our quotation is based on the known scope of work; any alteration, additional work, or preparation not previously agreed will be charged accordingly.
Working Hours: Our quotes are based on standard working hours (Monday to Friday, 38-hour week). If you require work to be performed outside of these hours, written notice is required, and any additional costs incurred will be added to the final price.
Site Access: We assume our work will be carried out in a maximum of one continuous visit. Abortive visits, where our team cannot access the site or commence work due to client delays, will be charged at our standard daily rate.
2. Client Responsibilities & Preparations
Building Regulations & Planning: It is the client’s sole responsibility to ensure all regulations are adhered to and necessary consents (including local planning permission) are applied for.
Part 1L Building Regulations: Due to regulations regarding the thermal insulation of domestic properties, householders are responsible for applying to their local planning and building control departments prior to roofing works commencing to ensure compliance.
Site Clearance: All telephone, internet, electrical cabling, and pipework that may be affected by the roofing works must be removed, refixed, or rerouted by the client prior to our arrival.
Green Roofs: If we are installing a green roof, the client is responsible for post-installation maintenance, including watering, weeding, fertilisation, and protecting plug plants from wildlife until fully established.
3. Liability, Damage & Insurance
Insurance: We carry comprehensive Public Liability Insurance up to £10 million. A copy of our certificate is available upon request. It is recommended that clients notify their home insurer of the ongoing works.
Protection of Property: While every care is taken during re-roofing, we cannot accept responsibility for dust, debris, or damage to ceilings, or to any valuable/breakable items below the working area. Clients must remove or suitably protect these items before work begins.
Aerials & Dishes: We take the greatest care when working around TV or satellite aerials, but we cannot accept responsibility for damage or loss of signal caused by the re-roofing process.
Existing Roofs & Repairs: While our operatives take every precaution, we cannot be held responsible for damage caused to existing roof structures during repair work. Furthermore, repairs made to existing roofs not originally installed by us cannot be guaranteed for long-term watertightness.
Drainage: All new build or stripped roofs are laid to the existing drainage falls. Any pre-existing drainage problems must be highlighted prior to pricing. We accept no responsibility for ponding (standing water) that occurs after re-roofing, noting that standing water does not harm high-performance membranes.
4. Weather, Delays & Force Majeure
Weather Conditions: The completion of our works is strictly subject to safe, reasonable weather conditions. We cannot carry out works in wet weather, snow, ice, or high winds exceeding 26mph. We accept no liability for project delays caused by these conditions.
Unforeseen Delays: We will aim to complete the work as quickly as possible, but time is not of the essence in this contract. We are not liable for delays caused by circumstances beyond our control (e.g., material supply shortages, strikes, severe weather, or restricted site access), nor for any consequential loss suffered by the client due to such delays.
5. Payments & Guarantees
Payment Terms: Invoices are strictly payable within 30 days from the date of issue. All prices are exclusive of VAT, which will be applied at the current rate.
Late Payments: We reserve the right to charge interest on any unsettled accounts at a rate of 8% above the current Bank of England base rate.
Retention of Title: All goods and materials supplied remain the property of the company until the invoice is paid in full. We reserve the right to access the property to recover unpaid materials (fixed or unfixed) without prior consent.
Guarantees: Standard workmanship guarantee terms will be stated in our written quotation or contract and will only be issued once full and final payment for the completed works has been received. A 10-year insurance-backed guarantee is not included by default; where eligible, it may be arranged as an optional, separately quoted item and is subject to insurer/provider acceptance, the relevant premium being paid, and all account balances being settled in full.
6. General Legal Terms
Materials are selected based on manufacturer recommendations as being fit for purpose. Provided they are used as recommended, we cannot accept responsibility for inherent material failures.
Any recommendations made are on behalf of the company, and individual employees hold no personal legal liability.
This agreement is governed by English law, and the courts of England will have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes. Third parties who are not part of this agreement have no right to enforce any of its terms.
